(I) THE CONCEPT OF “MUTUAL FAITH”

1. Mutual Faith

“…that I may be encouraged together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me.” Romans 1:12

a) What “mutual” does not mean

i) Same quality of faith

ii) Same level of faith

b) What “mutual” means

i) A common set of beliefs

ii) Individual faith that is able to bring about encouragement to each other

2. Same spirit of faith

“And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, ‘I believed and therefore I spoke,’ we also believe and therefore speak” 2 Corinthians 4:13

a) Same Spirit of faith

i) Who lives inside every believer

ii) Who helps us develop faith

b) Same word of God (according to what was written)

i) Word generates faith

ii) Faith articulated

(II) A GREAT EXAMPLE OF FAITH

1. Paul and his faith

a) Developed faith

b) Dynamic faith

2. Mutual Faith Concept applied

a) Able to recognize the faith of other people

i) The Romans

ii) The renown faith of the Romans ( Romans 1:8 )

b) Able to draw encouragement from other people’s faith

c) Able to speak of “mutual faith”

(III) A NEEDED CHALLENGE

1. To appreciate the faith that we have

2. To appreciate the faith that others have

3. To find further enrichment through “mutual faith” exchange
