Title: “You are my God, I will exalt You”

SPECIAL REASONS FOR HOLDING FAMILY CAMPS

1. Discovery of more knowledge of God

2. Developing a deeper understanding of the LORD of His ways and works

3. Deepening level of faith in God

4. Determination to relate to God better

THEME FOR THIS YEAR’S FAMILY CAMP

“Wells of Salvation” (Isaiah 12:3)

Many things to discover about the LORD.

1. God as the Fountain of living waters

My people have committed two evils:
They have forsaken Me, the fountain of living waters,
And hewn themselves cisterns, broken cisterns that can hold no water. (Jeremiah 2:15)

a) Fountain of living waters

b) Described as the gentle waters of Shiloah that flow gently… Isaiah 8:6

i) Not recognized

ii) Not appreciated

c) “Behold, the LORD brings the mighty waters of the River (Euphrates), strong and mighty”
Isaiah 8:7

i) A reference to the Assyrians

ii) They were brought in by King Ahaz to battle Israel

iii) But the River is not like the gentle waters of Shiloah (The Lord)

iv) It will overflow all his banks

d) The answer and the hope in the salvation God gives

i) In Immanuel (Isaiah 7:14; 8:8)

ii) In His presence among His people

iii) In the salvation that He will bring

2. God as the Giver of salvation

And in that day you will say:
“O LORD, I will praise You;
Though You were angry with me,
Your anger is turned away and You comfort me.
Behold, God is my salvation.” Isaiah 12:1

a) The anger of the LORD (Isaiah 9:12, 17, 21; 10:4)

i) Righteous

ii) To be understood and feared

iii) It results in sorrow

b) It is turned away (Isaiah 12:1)

i) He does not keep His anger

ii) In His favour is life

iii) He brings comfort to all who turn to Him

c) He is our salvation indeed (Isaiah 12:2)

i) He deserves to be thanked

ii) He deserves to be praised

iii) He deserves to be blessed

iv) He deserves to be extolled

v) He deserves to be exalted

3. The LORD as our God who does wonderful things

O LORD, You are my God, I will exalt You,
I will praise Your name, for You have done wonderful things.
Your counsels of old are faithfulness and truth. (Isaiah 25:1)

a) A personal relationship

i) To be developed

ii) To be distinctive

b) God is to be exalted
For He has done wonderful things indeed
Discover who He is in the glory of His majesty (Isaiah 2:11, 19, 21)

c) Your counsels of old

i) Recorded in the Scriptures

ii) Prophets and Psalms

iii) Gospels and Epistles

d) Faithfulness and truth

i) God’s faithfulness can be seen in His counsels

ii) And they are precious truths indeed

PERSONAL CHALLENGES FOR THE FAMILY CAMP

1. Check personal faith and relationship to the LORD

2. Cleansing to be sought and found (Isaiah 1:18)

3. Learning how to draw water with joy from the wells of salvation (Isaiah 12:3)

a) Salvation to be checked and confirmed

b) The imagery of “Wells of salvation” to be better understood and applied

4. Learning how to see and to extol and exalt the LORD our God (Isaiah 2:10, 19, 21)

a) This can only be attempted with a deeper knowledge of God

b) The loftiness of man must be brought down (Isaiah 2, 14)

i) Israel (Isaiah 2)

ii) Babylon (Lucifer) (Isaiah 14)

c) Exaltation of God

i) Terror

ii) Majesty (Isaiah 2:10, 19, 21)
