BRIEF HISTORY OF THE NATION OF ISRAEL

1. Founder

2. Foundational Promises of blessing

ii) He delivered them into the hands of plunderers (Judges 2:14)

iii) He sold them to the hands of enemies (Judges 2:14)

iv) The hand of the LORD was against them for calamity (Judges 2:15)

v) He would no longer drive the enemies out of the land of Canaan (Judges 2:23)

f) The mercy (pity) of God

i) He raised up Judges (Judges 2:16)

ii) These delivered Israel (Judges 2:16)

iii) But after the death of the Judge Israel returned to their evil ways (Judges 2:19)

10. The Last Judge- Samuel

a) In the time of the Judges

i) The Word of the LORD was rare (1 Samuel 3:1)

ii) There was no widespread revelation (1 Samuel 3:1)

b) God raised up Samuel

i) Called him (1 Samuel 3)

ii) Trained and equipped him (1 Samuel 3)

c) Samuel was the best of the Judges

LESSONS TO BE LEARNED

1. Reflections of King David concerning the Word of God

a) The Words of the LORD are pure words (Psalm 12:6)

b) God will always keep/ preserve His Word (Psalm 12:7)

c) The law of the LORD is perfect, It can convert the soul (Psalm 19:7)

d) The testimony of the LORD is sure, Making wise the simple (Psalm 19:8)

e) The statutes of the LORD are right, Rejoicing the heart (Psalm 19:9)

f) The commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes (Psalm 19:8)

g) The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever (Psalm 19:9)

h) The judgments of the LORD are true And righteous forever (Psalm 19:9)

2. Reflections of King David concerning Appropriate Response

a) More to be desired are they than gold, Yea, than much fine gold (Psalm 19:10)

b) Sweeter also than honey and the honey comb (Psalm 19:10)

c) Moreover by them Your servant is warned (Psalm 19:11)

d) And in keeping them there is great reward (Psalm 19:11)
