(I) TROUBLED TIMES
Troubled Times have always existed
“Why do the nations rage, and the people plot a vain thing? Psalm 2:1
1. Nations have always been raging
2. People have always been plotting
(II) TROUBLED TIMES AHEAD
There will be always be troubled times till the Lord Jesus returns.
“The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together,
Against the LORD and against His anointed…” Psalm 2:2
“And you will hear of wars and rumours of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of sorrows.” Matthew 24:6-8
(III) TRUSTING IN GOD’S PROMISE OF BLESSING
“Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him” Psalm 2:12b
1. Trusting in God’s Sovereign Power
“He who sits in heaven shall laugh; the LORD shall hold them in derision” Psalm 2:4
2. Trusting in God’s Supreme Plan
“Yet I have set My King on My holy hill of Zion.
I will declare the decree:
The LORD has said to Me,
‘You are My Son, today I have begotten You.
Ask of Me, and I will give You the nations for Your inheritance,
And the ends of the earth for Your possession” Psalm 2:6-8
(IV) DEVELOPING A DEEPER TRUST
1. Through Instruction
“Now therefore, be wise, O kings;
Be instructed, you judges of the earth” Psalm 2:10
a) Wisdom through instruction
b) Even kings and judges need further instruction
2. Through Meditation
“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly,
Nor stands in the path of sinners, not sits in the seat of the scornful.
But his delight is in the law of the LORD and in His law he meditates day and night” Psalm 1:1-2
a) Meditation on Choice of companions
(Rejection of the ungodly, sinful and scornful)
b) Meditation on the Scriptures
(Day and night)
(V) BLESSING OF THE LORD BECAUSE OF TRUST
