(I) A COMPELLING CHALLENGE TO “CONSIDER”
“Therefore, holy brethren, consider…” Hebrews 3:1
1. The meaning behind the word “consider”
a) To put the mind to dwell on something
b) To fix the mind on something
c) To give attention to something
d) To give continuous regard
2. The compelling feature
a) Therefore
i) Therefore
Applied to Christ (Hebrews 2:17)
ii) Therefore
Applied to the believer (Hebrews 3:1)
b) Holy brethren (Hebrews 3:1)
i) Sanctified
ii) Sons and brothers
(II) A HEAVENLY CALLING
1. Partakers of a heavenly calling
a) A shared calling
b) Imagine having the same calling as the Lord Jesus Christ!
2. Considering two aspects of this calling
a) Jesus as an Apostle
i) He was sent by God for a specific task
ii) He was faithful in fulfilling His Divine task
b) Jesus as our High Priest
i) Ministry of intercession is in mind
ii) Faithfulness in ministry
3. Considering our confession of faith in Christ
a) Challenge to Follow Him (Matthew 4:19)
b) Challenge of serving the Lord God as people who have been sent (John 20:21)
c) Challenge of being faithful priests of God (1 Peter 2:9-10)
