Message Notes
(I) OUR FOCUS THIS EASTER: BUT WE SEE JESUS
“But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour, that He by the grace of God, might taste death for everyone.” Hebrews 2:9
(II) THINGS WORTH FOCUSING ON
1. That He was willing to be made lower than the angels
a) Such humility
b) Such condescension
c) Such identification
d) He put on flesh and became man (John 1:14)
2. That He was willing to fulfill God’s plan of redemption
a) For the suffering of death
“Without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sin” Hebrews 9:22
“By means of death, for the redemption of transgressions” Hebrews 9:15b
b) Might taste death for everyone
“And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment.
So Christ was offered to bear the sins of many.” Hebrews 9:27-28
i) We will have to face judgment for our sins
ii) Christ bore the penalty of our sins
iii) He willingly offered to bear our sins on Himself
iv) His death removed the judgment that would befall all sinners
3. By the grace of God
a) This salvation is made available to all
b) This salvation is something we will never merit
“For by grace you have been saved, through faith, and that not of yourselves,
It is the gift of God.
Not of works, lest anyone should boast”. Ephesians 2:8-9
4. Crowned with glory and honour
a) This Easter we ascribe all glory and honour to the Lord Jesus Christ
b) We proclaim Him King and Lord
e) We offer Him worship
i) As people redeemed by His precious blood
ii) As His brethren of whom He is not ashamed
f) We invite all
i) To discover Jesus
ii) To believe in Him as Saviour and Lord
iii) To have a renewed faith in the Lord Jesus Christ
