(I) THE INVOLVEMENT OF THE DEVIL
1. He was involved in the fall of man (Genesis 3)
2. He learned that many feared death
a) Physical suffering
b) Physical death
c) Spiritual death
d) Eternal separation from God
3. He then wielded a great power over man
a) Fear is a powerful weapon
b) He who causes fear can control the individual
c) Fear creates torment
4. He virtually had the power of death (Hebrews 2:14)
a) This power of death must be broken
b) The answer lies in the Lord Jesus Christ
(II) THE BATTLE OF THE LORD JESUS WITH THE DEVIL
1. Defeating the Devil by overcoming temptations (Matthew 4)
2. Defeating the Devil through deliverance (Mark 9)
3. Defeating the Devil through His death on the cross

(III) CONSEQUENCES OF THE DEFEAT OF THE DEVIL
