“And give You as a covenant to the people, as a light to the Gentiles” Isaiah 42:6

4. An everlasting covenant (Isaiah 55:3)
5. The Law will be put in the mind and written in the heart (Jeremiah 31:33)
(IV) THE CALL OF CHRIST TO ESTABLISH THE NEW COVENANT
“And give You as a covenant to the people, as a light to the Gentiles” Isaiah 42:6
1. Only Christ was given this calling to establish the New Covenant
2. Only Christ was able to establish it
a) Christ is the Mediator of the New Covenant (Hebrews 9:15)
b) The Lord Jesus shed His own blood for the redemption of sins (Hebrews 9:14, 15)
c) He is the Seed of Abraham that all the nations will be blessed …no curses (Galatians 3:16)
d) The Lord Jesus ushered in the New Covenant with the Lord’s Supper
“Likewise He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you.” Luke 22:20
(V) THE POWER THAT IS FOUND IN THE NEW COVENANT
“As a light to the Gentiles, to open blind eyes, to bring out prisoners from the prison,
those who sit in darkness from the prison house.” Isaiah 42:6, 7
1. To be light to the Gentiles
2. To open blind eyes
3. To bring out prisoners from the prison
(VI) OUR RESPONSE TO CHRIST ESTABLISHING THE NEW COVENANT
1. Something worth celebrating this Christmas
2. Rejoice that all of us are included in as Gentiles…to be part of the New Covenant
3. All the blessings of the Covenant/promise given to us (Galatians 3:14)
4. To become ministers of the New Covenant this Christmas (2 Corinthians 3:6)
