I will keep You

(I) THE PROMISES OF GOD
1. Blessing
2. Protection
“I will keep You”
(II) ISRAEL AND THE PROMISES OF GOD
1. Israel had many promises from God
2. These promises were often re-iterated
3. Sadly Israel never learned to trust that God would keep His promises
4. Instead Israel placed its trust:-
a) The leaders of the land
b) The idols that they obtained from neighbouring countries
c) Foreign powers
d) Themselves
(III) GOD’S PROMISE TO THE MESSIAH
“I will keep You…” Isaiah 42:10
1. No elaborate promises
2. Just a plain and simple word
(IV) CHRIST’S RESPONSE TO THIS WORD OF PROMISE
1. It was sufficient for Jesus
2. He believed in His Father’s Promise
3. He does not ask for many promises
4. He does not even look for assurances
(V) GOD’S KEEPING OF HIS PROMISE
1. From the wrath of King Herod (Matthew 2)
2. From the wrath of the people in Nazareth (Luke 4:29-30)
3. From the wicked plots of the chief priests (Mark 3:6)
(VI) THE DEATH OF JESUS
1. It was not because of a lack of safe-keeping
2. His death was part of God’s plan of redemption
(VII) SIGNIFICANCE OF JESUS BELIEVING IN GOD’S KEEPING
Jesus is an example in the following ways:-
1. Faith in God
2. Trust in God’s Promises (Word of God)
3. Living without worrying
4. Serving God with confidence
