STRUGGLING WITH A CHRONIC AFFLICTION

“And suddenly, a woman who had a flow of blood for twelve years…”   Matthew 9:20

“ Now a certain woman had a flow of blood for twelve years, and had suffered many things from many physicians. She had spent all that she had and was no better, but rather grew worse.”   Mark 5:25-26

1. A woman had a flow of blood for 12 years

2. She had been suffering physically

3. She suffered many things from many physicians and was getting worse.

4. She was in a situation where there was no remedy

SEEKING THE LORD WITH SOME FAITH

“And suddenly, a woman who had a flow of blood for twelve years came from behind and touched the hem of His garment. For she said to herself, “If only I may touch His garment, I shall be made well.”   Matthew 9:20-21

“When she heard about Jesus, she came behind Him in the crowd and touched His garment. For she said, “If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well.”   Mark 5:27-28

1. The woman had heard about the Lord Jesus and His words

2. She sought the Lord with some faith in Him

3. She followed through with whatever faith she had

4. She came from behind and touched the Lord

THE LORD’S GRACE AND POWER IN MEETING NEEDS

“Immediately the fountain of her blood was dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of the affliction. And Jesus, immediately knowing in Himself that power had gone out of Him, turned around in the crowd and said, “Who touched My clothes?”
But His disciples said to Him, “You see the multitude thronging You, and You say, ‘Who touched Me?’ ”

And He looked around to see her who had done this thing. But the woman, fearing and trembling, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell down before Him and told Him the whole truth.”

Mark 5:29-33

1. The Lord’s mercy was extended to her

2. The woman was cured immediately

3. His power was given to heal her

4. The Lord was now seeking to see the lady who touched Him

THE LORD’S COMMENDATORY WORDS OF LOVE

“But Jesus turned around, and when He saw her, He said, “Be of good cheer, daughter; your faith has made you well.” And the woman was made well from that hour.”   Matthew 9:22

And He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your affliction.”   Mark 5:34

1. The Lord’s tender response to the woman

2. Words of commendation

a. The Lord Jesus was able to see her faith

b. The Lord commended her for the faith that she had

3. Words of encouragement

a. Encouragement to be of good cheer

b. Encouragement to be at peace

4. Words of confirmation and assurance

a. There was the assurance that her healing was whole

b. There was fullness of restoration.

2. Exercising some faith in the Lord

3. Following through in seeking the Lord

4. Fullness of assurance
