HISTORICAL CONTEXT
1. In the 1st year of Darius, the son of Ahasuerus Daniel 9:1a
2. Made king over the realm of the Chaldeans Daniel 9:1
3. Possible reference to Cyrus , the first king of the Medo-Persian empire
BABYLONIAN TO MEDO-PERSIAN EMPIRE
1. Lion with eagle’s wings (Babylonian) Daniel 7:4
2. Bear raised up on one side, with three ribs in its mouth (Medo-Persian) Daniel 7:5
Also Ram with two horns; one horn higher than the other Daniel 8:3
3. Significance: God’s Prophetic word was being fulfilled before Daniel’s eyes!
