CHURCH PRAYER MEETING
Exodus 24:9-18

SPECIAL INSTRUCTION FOR MOSES

1. To go up to the mountain to be with the Lord    Exodus 24:12a

2. God will give him tablets of stone    Exodus 24:12b

3. The laws and commandments will be given to him    Exodus 24:12c

4. He will then seek to teach Israel God’s laws    Exodus 24:12d

MENTION OF MOSES AND JOSHUA

1. Moses arose in obedience to God’s word

2. Joshua is described as Moses’ assistant    Exodus 24:13

INSTRUCTION TO THE ELDERS

1. They are to wait for Moses    Exodus 24:14a

2. Aaron and Hur will be in charge    Exodus 24:14b

a) If there are difficulties

b) These would be referred to them

MOSES ASCENDS THE MOUNTAIN

1. Moses walks up the mountain

2. A cloud covered the mountain

a) Joshua waits for Moses faithfully

b) The congregation cannot see Moses for the cloud that covered the mountain

THE GLORY OF THE LORD

1. This rested on Mount Sinai    Exodus 24:16a

2. The cloud covered it for six days    Exodus 24:16b

A FORMAL CALL FROM GOD

1. On the seventh day God called Moses    Exodus 24:16b

2. The significance of God’s calling must not be lost

a) No one else was called

b) Not Aaron and Hur

c) Not the Seventy Elders

d) Not Joshua

e) Only Moses

THE SIGHT OF MOUNT SINAI

1. This was the glory of the Lord manifested    Exodus 24:17a

2. It was like a consuming fire on the top of the mountain    Exodus 24:17

3. This was visible to Israel    Exodus 24:17

4. Moses went up into the mountain    Exodus 24:18a

5. He was there for forty days and forty nights    Exodus 24:18b
