Revelation 8

SOUNDING OF THE SEVEN TRUMPETS

First Trumpet: Vegetation Struck
7 The first angel sounded: And hail and fire followed, mingled with blood, and they were thrown to the earth. And a third of the trees were burned up, and all green grass was burned up.

Second Trumpet: The Seas Struck
8 Then the second angel sounded: And something like a great mountain burning with fire was thrown into the sea, and a third of the sea became blood.
9 And a third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed.

Third Trumpet: Fresh Waters Struck
10 Then the third angel sounded: And a great star fell from heaven, burning like a torch, and it fell on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water.
11 The name of the star is Wormwood. A third of the waters became wormwood, and many men died from the water, because it was made bitter.

Fourth Trumpet: The Heavens Struck
12 Then the fourth angel sounded: And a third of the sun was struck, a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third of them were darkened. A third of the day did not shine, and likewise the night.
13 And I looked, and I heard an angel flying through the midst of heaven, saying with a loud voice, “Woe, woe, woe to the inhabitants of the earth, because of the remaining blasts of the trumpet of the three angels who are about to sound!”

Revelation 8:7-13

1. The sounding of the Trumpets Numbers 10:1-10

a) Silver trumpets Numbers 10:2a

b) For calling of the congregation Numbers 10:2b

c) For directing of the movement of the camps Numbers 10:2c

d) To be blown by the sons of Aaron Numbers 10:8

i) To sound the alarm

ii) You will be remembered and be saved Numbers 10:9

iii) To be blown in gladness as a memorial Numbers 10:10

IMPACT OF THE 1ST TRUMPET

1. Hail and fire mingled with blood

2. One third of trees and grass burned up Revelation 8:7

IMPACT OF THE 2nd TRUMPET

1. A great mountain burning with fire thrown into the sea

2. A third of the sea became blood

3. A third of the sea creatures died

IMPACT OF THE 3rd TRUMPET

1. A great star from heaven fell, burning like a torch

2. A third of Fresh waters are struck (rivers and spring)

3. The name of the star was Wormwood

4. Wormwood is bitter in taste

IMPACT OF THE 4th TRUMPET

1. Heavenly bodies affected

a) A third of the sun

b) A third of the moon

c) A third of the stars

d) Day and Night affected

2. Announcement of an angel

a) Woe to the earth

b) Because the remaining trumpet blasts would be even worse

THE PLAGUES AGAINST EGYPT

1. We are reminded of the plagues against Egypt

2. These are all judgments of God Exodus 7-12
