12 Then I turned to see the voice that spoke with me. And having turned I saw seven golden lampstands,

13 and in the midst of the seven lampstands One like the Son of Man, clothed with a garment down to the feet and girded about the chest with a golden band.

14 His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and His eyes like a flame of fire;

15 His feet were like fine brass, as if refined in a furnace, and His voice as the sound of many waters;

THE VISION OF SEVEN GOLDEN LAMPSTANDS

1. John turned around to see the Person who spoke to Him

2. He saw “seven golden lampstands”

3. What do they symbolize?

THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE GOLDEN LAMPSTANDS

1. The golden lampstands are the churches of God Revelation 1:20

2. Lampstands

14 “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.

15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.

16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

Matthew 5:14-15

a) The lampstand in itself does not give light
b) It bears the lamp that shines
c) The lamp must have oil and it must be lit

3. The significance of the lampstand being Golden

a) Gold is an entity of worth
b) Gold was heavily used in the Tabernacle and Temple
c) The Church must seek to understand:
i) Its worth
ii) Its dignity
iii) Its purpose
iv) Its function

THE VISION OF THE SON OF MAN

1. The garment of the Son of Man

“Clothed with a garment down to the feet and girded about the chest with a golden band”

Revelation 1:13b

a) A garment down to the feet
i) Servants do not wear long garments
ii) It represents position and dignity
b) Girded about the chest with a golden band
i) Similar to the garment of the High Priest Exodus 29, 39
ii) Gold threads were used for the holy garments of the High Priest
iii) The Lord Jesus wore a golden band

2. In the midst of the seven golden lampstands

a) The Lord is present among the churches
b) He is directly and personally concerned and involved
c) He is like the High Priest who tends to the Menorah in the Temple

3. His head and eyes

His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and His eyes like a flame of fire; Revelation 1:14

a) Head and hair
i) White like wool
To symbolize great wisdom
ii) White as snow
To symbolize purity
b) Eyes
i) To symbolize brightness of intelligence
ii) To represent sharpness and discernment

4. His feet

“His feet were like fine brass, as if refined in a furnace”

Revelation 1:15

a) His feet have walked through fire
b) They are strong
c) Brass was a very strong metal in the ancient days

5. His voice

“And His voice as the sound of many waters”

a) It reflects great power
b) He also reflects majesty and strength

DANIEL’S VISION OF THE SON OF MAN

13 “I was watching in the night visions,
And behold, One like the Son of Man,
Coming with the clouds of heaven!
He came to the Ancient of Days,
And they brought Him near before Him.

14 Then to Him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom,
That all peoples, nations, and languages should serve Him.
His dominion is an everlasting dominion,
Which shall not pass away,
And His kingdom the one
Which shall not be destroyed.

Daniel 7:13-14

1. Son of Man

This was a Messianic title

2. He was given a glorious and mighty kingdom
