THE DOCTRINE OF GRACE

1. The grace of God
“Much more the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the One Man” (Romans 5:15)

a) The operative system

b) The underlying structure

c) Grace- something totally undeserved!

d) Grace of God

e) Grace of the Lord Jesus Christ

2. Application of Grace

a) Justified freely by His grace (Romans 3:24)

b) Therefore it is of faith that it might be of grace (Romans 4:16)

i) Justified by faith (Romans 5:1)

ii) Access into this grace in which we stand (Romans 5:2)

c) The gift of righteousness (Romans 5:17)
(Imputed righteousness)

3. The Abundance of Grace

a) Abundance of grace (Romans 5:17)

b) Where sin abounded, grace abounded much more (Romans 5:20)

c) Grace must reign in our life (Romans 5:21)

i) Through righteousness

ii) To eternal life

iii) Through the Lord Jesus Christ

4. Grace to be appreciated against the backdrop of sin

a) Sin’s offence (Romans 5:15)

b) The wrath of God… judgment… condemnation (Romans 5:16)

c) Death as a consequence of sin (Romans 5:17)
