Text: Psalm 77
Subject: Remembering the Works of God in the Day of Trouble
1. In the day of trouble
a) God urges His people to seek Him Psalm 50:15
b) This was what Asaph did Psalm 77:2
2. How Asaph sought the Lord initially
a) My hand was stretched out without ceasing Psalm 77:2
b) My soul refused to be comforted Psalm 77:2
c) I remembered the Lord, and was troubled Psalm 77:3
d) I complained and my spirit was overwhelmed Psalm 77:3
e) I am so troubled I cannot speak Psalm 77:4
f) This is my anguish Psalm 77:10
3. When questions lead nowhere
a) Will the LORD cast off forever? Psalm 77:7
b) And will He be favourable no more? Psalm 77:7
c) Has His mercy ceased forever? Psalm 77:8
d) Has His promised failed forevermore? Psalm 77:8
e) Has God forgotten to be gracious? Psalm 77:9
f) Has He in anger shut up His tender mercies? Psalm 77:9
4. I will remember
a) I call to remembrance my song in the night Psalm 77:6
b) I meditate within my heart Psalm 77:6
c) My spirit makes diligent search Psalm 77:6
d) The years of the right hand of the Most High Psalm 77:10
e) I will remember the works of the LORD Psalm 77:11
f) Surely I will remember Your wonders of old Psalm 77:11
g) I will also meditate on all Your works Psalm 77:12
h) And talk of Your deeds Psalm 77:12
5. God’s Way
a) Your way is in the sanctuary Psalm 77:13; Psalm 73:17
b) Who is so great a God as our God? Psalm 77:13
c) You are the God who does wonders Psalm 77:14
d) You have declared Your strength to Your people Psalm 77:14
e) You have redeemed Your people Psalm 77:15
