PROFOUND REASONS FOR JESUS TO BE MADE LIKE HIS BRETHREN

1. That He might fully share with His earthly brethren what they experience

a) That He might share              Hebrews 2:14

b) That we might know that He truly understands us

c) The word “share” hints at His fellowship with us

2. That through His death He might destroy the works of the devil

a) Jesus has to defeat Satan as Man

b) The works of Satan

i) He wields power over man

ii) Especially those who fear death

iii) The fear of death makes man weak

iv) Fear makes us to be in bondage to Satan             Hebrews 2:15

c) When Jesus died and rose from the dead

i) He shows us that we do not need to fear death

ii) Death is not the end of everything

iii) Fear is defeated and replaced with faith and hope

iv) No believer needs to fear death anymore

3. Jesus took on flesh that He may be our great High Priest

a) He will be a merciful and faithful High Priest

b) He makes propitiation for our sins

c) He is able to help all who are tested/tempted

APPLICATION OF THIS KNOWLEDGE

1. Our faith is deepened

2. Our hearts are encouraged

3. We are encouraged to draw near to Lord

4. We can fight fear effectively

5. We can be more than conquerors
