Text: Exodus 6:10-30
INTRODUCTION
1. The first encounter with Pharaoh
a) It was unsuccessful
b) The Pharaoh dismissed Moses’ petition
2. Disastrous results
a) The children of Israel suffered even more hardship
b) The punishment of the task masters was hard and cruel
THE LORD’S COMMAND

2. Not just a break of three days for worship
3. Moses was told to say to the Pharaoh these words
10 And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,
11 “Go in, tell Pharaoh king of Egypt to let the children of Israel go out of his land.”
Exodus 6:10-11
MOSES RESPONDS NEGATIVELY
And Moses spoke before the LORD, saying, “The children of Israel have not heeded me. How then shall Pharaoh heed me, for I am of uncircumcised lips?”

2. His argument

b) How would the Pharaoh heed him?
3. He blames himself

AARON AND MOSES
26 These are the same Aaron and Moses to whom the LORD said, “Bring out the children of Israel from the land of Egypt according to their armies.”
27 These are the ones who spoke to Pharaoh king of Egypt, to bring out the children of Israel from Egypt. These are the same Moses and Aaron.
Exodus 6:26-27
1. The LORD had called them
2. He had chosen them
a) To speak to Pharaoh
b) To bring out the children of Israel out of Egypt
THE DIFFIDENCE OF MOSES
28 And it came to pass, on the day the LORD spoke to Moses in the land of Egypt,
29 that the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, “I am the LORD. Speak to Pharaoh king of Egypt all that I say to you.”
30 But Moses said before the LORD, “Behold, I am of uncircumcised lips, and how shall Pharaoh heed me?”Exodus 6:28-30
1. The LORD had given a clear word of command to Moses
2. Moses kept insisting that he was not the man to speak to Pharaoh
3. He kept insisting that he was a man of uncircumcised lips thus he cannot be the one who would lead the children of Israel out of Egypt
A SIMILAR SITUATION
1. This involves Isaiah
2. He too was conscious that he had unclean lips
1 In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple.
2 Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. 3 And one cried to another and said:
“Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts;
The whole earth is full of His glory!”
4 And the posts of the door were shaken by the voice of him who cried out, and the house was filled with smoke.
5 So I said:
“Woe is me, for I am undone!
Because I am a man of unclean lips,
And I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips;
For my eyes have seen the King,
The LORD of hosts.”
6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a live coal which he had taken with the tongs from the altar.
7 And he touched my mouth with it, and said:
“Behold, this has touched your lips;
Your iniquity is taken away,
And your sin purged.”Isaiah 6:1-7
